This bank holiday weekend at Coriander Stained Glass we’re hoping to visit the William Morris Gallery.

The William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, London has recently been refurbished and what better way to spend the August bank holiday weekend than browsing the nine galleries dedicated to William Morris.

In the first few galleries you can find out who William Morris was and how his career began, and then move on to the company he set up, Morris & Co.

Stained glass was one of Morris & Co’s specialities, and some examples of his work can be found on the gallery website.

We love the collection available on the website as the images provide real inspiration for lead light works.  Even the tapestries and wallpapers can be starting points for new designs.

There are two exhibitions currently on display at the gallery as well as tea rooms and a shop to compliment your visit, where we’re hoping to pick up a book or two for inspiration.

We’re really looking forward to visiting the gallery – let us know via Facebook and Twitter if you’ve been or if you’re planning a visit!
