We’ve been busy here at Coriander Stained Glass.  With only 5 weeks to go until christmas the rush is on to buy presents!  Stained glass windows can make a wonderful and unique gift for a loved one and will last year after year after year.  Head over to our stained glass portfolio for some ideas.

Stained Glass Artist  Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to this weekend at Coriander Stained Glass in our Wimbledon shop.   Our stained glass artist Will is renovating an orginal Victorian lead light from a home in Earlsfield, London. Here we see that he has stripped the panel of lead, cleaned the old glass, replaced some broken pieces and is now starting to rebuild the panel into a new traditional lead structure. When finished this stained glass lead light will be transformed from a week structure with broken glass to a new strong solid and flat leaded light, re using  the old Victorian glass.

Victorian Front Entrance

This is a set of stained glass lead lights fitted today in the front entrance of a Victorian house in Wimbledon Park, the design and coloured glass used copies the original found in the neighbouring houses as closely as possible.  The central bird feature is a traditional fired stained glass painting by our in house painter, Margaret. We have worked closely with the client and their builders Nineteen Builders and interior design who had the new door purpose made and fitted.

The stained glass is fitted in the traditional way for this complicated door layout, finished with a putty angle on the inside rather than beading. This is one of several front entrances that we have created or restored in this road in Wimbledon Park, all that remain to be done is for our signwriters Brushstokes, to paint the number on the toplight.

The final outcome is stunning and makes a beautiful addition to this Victorian home.
