We’re getting back into the swing of things here at Coriander Stained Glass after the festive break.

Today’s project we’d like to share with you is this door and toplight, replicating the stained glass that would have been an original feature of the Edwardian home on the Southfields grid of London, SW18.

As it’s January, and it can tend to feel like the month is twice as long, we’ve been looking up some exhibitions we’d like to visit to spend the weekends right!

We’ve had our eye fixed firmly for a while now on the Random International event at the Barbican; the Rain Room.  Rain is of course  a typical feature of any January in England, but what’s special about  this exhibition is that you can walk through the room without getting  wet.

A “choreographed downpour to the sound of water” the Rain Room is a sensory experience and a digital-based, contemporary approach to art, allowing visitors to experience the event as well as view it.  If you’re into technical details, the impressive injection moulded tiles, solenoid valves, pressure regulators, custom software, 3D tracking cameras and  water management system will keep you interested, but we’re looking forward to it just for the fun factor!

A word of warning though, due to the popularity of this event the queuing time can be up to 3 hours so if you’re planning on taking children with you make sure you are well prepared!  If you’ve already been, please share your pictures, we’d love to see them!
